The Sahara Desert

The Sahara desert is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the Atlas Mountains, the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, and the Sahel. It is the largest tropical desert in the world, surrounding almost all of North Africa and covering an area of about 3,500,000 sq mi (9,065,000 sq km).  The area that the desert covers include portions of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad, and Sudan.
